"Yeah yeah yeah, PlayStation 4," I hear you say. "But what about The Last Guardian!?" The fate of the PS3-exclusive Team ICO game has been up in the air for a couple of years, and there was hope of seeing it on Wednesday night. Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida apologised for its absence, but assured gamers that the project still exists."I apologise to people who are waiting for the game," Yoshida told
Kotaku. "[Fumito] Ueda-san posted that he's still working on it, that he's creative-directing it and that the team in the Japan studios are working hard. We are waiting for the right time to re-introduce
The Last Guardian."
Asked if the game has platform-hopped to the PlayStation 4, Yoshida simply said, "we're going to talk about it when we can."
In a separate interview with
Gamespot, the exec was a bit more open as to the reasons why there's been a lot of radio silence about the game. "I’m not ready to talk about it. Sorry. Because we’ve broken promises [before], we are waiting for the right time to reintroduce
The Last Guardian." The game has been rumoured to have suffered some development trouble since work began on it around 2007.
