GAME Launches "Fun for a Fiver" Campaign
GAME has launched its "Fun for a Fiver" campaign, which aims to offer the latest releases for £5 over the next month. Sort of. It actually works by providing a guaranteed trade-in price for new games, thus negating all but £5 of your spend when you return it.

Final Fantasy XIII-2, SoulCalibur V, The Darkness 2, and the 3DS versions of Tekken and Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games are titles included in the "new games" category. You pay full-whack for them up front (between £27.99 and £39.99) and then return it for credit within two weeks. 'Credit' suggests you're not exactly getting most of your wonga back in coin form however.

There's a selection of pre-owned games that come under this "Fun for a Fiver" initiative too. Resident Evil 5, Battlefield: Bad Company and Need for Speed: Shift on Xbox 360; Avatar, Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction and Assassin's Creed 2 on PlayStation 3; Big Brain Academy, High School Musical: Makin' the Cut and Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir on Nintendo DS; and Sonic and the Secret Rings, High School Musical 3 and Mario Strikers Charged for the Wii.

The promotion runs from today until February 29th.

aren't developers trying to get rid of the whole pre owned market. seems to be at odds with retail companies actively encouraging it. surely this will just push developers to go for a more download based retail pattern even more.

Two weeks? WTF!
For 5.99 LoveFILM will give you two games in a month, and not have to spit-up the cost of a new game up front.
