Another day, another report of layoffs at a development company. This time it's US Disney studio Avalanche that has been "restructured" leading to twenty staff members losing their jobs. The makers of tie-in titles like Toy Story 3 and Bolt will remain open for now but it's always sad news to hear of jobs being cut. Disney has already shut down UK studio
Black Rock and Tron developer Propaganda this year; rumours of more cuts at Junction Point (who were responsible for the flop Epic Mickey) are also flying.
Disney seems to be
paring down its games division with reckless abandon. What this means for the rest of their studios is yet to be seen but we hope that the layoffs stop soon.
