This isn't a 3D camera. You guys need reminding of these things sometimes. You just don't know.
Apparently someone from SCE London Studios has witnessed testing of PlayStation Eye 3D chat software. The implications of this rumour, if true, means that a new PS3 camera that can detect 3D space is in the works.
Unfortunately, the one source we have for this rumour is website 3xG, which has a "reliable source at SCE London Studio" who says that "he or she" has "witnessed end-to-end user testing of 3D Eye chat."
"On the surface this doesn’t sound like much, but think a little deeper and you can see this is a very big deal", says the site. Well, yes: it means that there would be a 3D capable PlayStation Eye, but thanks for the patronisation.
If this rumour goes anywhere beyond 3xG, we'll be sure to pick up on it.

Wouldn't the bandwidth requirements be beyond most peoples DSL connection? For example for HD video on Skype they recommend 1 Mbps upload, which isn't the typical internet connection.
