Looks like the recession is hitting everyone hard, even those who uphold the law. According to the Daily Mail, 34-year-old bobby Peter Cokell has been found guilty of pilfering PlayStation 3 games from a local HMV store in Bristol.

Eye-witness testimony and CCTV evidence showed the cop lifting some games and hiding them underneath his police-issue stab vest. When quizzed on his actions, Cokell defended that he was interested in the games to relate to young people. And er, the shuffling wasn't him stealing but adjusting his trousers.

“I tried my best to be inconspicuous to the general members of the pubic so that they would not form the wrong impression of what I may or may not have been trying to do with my trousers,” explained Cokell. “I had no reason to steal and no reason to steal PS3 games, I don’t have a PS3.”

Turns out the court found him to be guilty regardless – Cokell is expected to receive sentencing on the 27th November.
