Nintendo: DS Sales 'Over Exuberant'
Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata's speech to analysts has given up some more gems. This time regarding DS software sales:

"As for Nintendo DS, software in general had experienced an over-exuberant period when any software could sell well as long as they launched. Such an overheated period, of course, cannot last forever.

"As time goes by, the difference between software which sells and those that cannot becomes obvious."

We're not sure of the official translation here of 'any software could sell well as long as they launched' but we're fairly certain he didn't mean, "any old rubbish would sell as long as we put it out there."

I think he just means that DS-games make some nice relative profits instead of (HD?)console-games where 60% don't turn up profits at all.

A great related research subject would be if the handheld market doesn't create a crucial financial undercurrent for the entire gaming industry. Much like how immigrants create a vital undercurrent labor force or money obtained trough off-the-books wages actually supports the entire world economy.
