Sony’s dedication to their worthy little gadget called the EyeToy deserves praise, and now the latest incarnation of the EyeToy series takes the brand another step towards its logical conclusion. From the outset, since EyeToy Play, the PS2 camera attachment has demanded a little more exertion from the player than the average PlayStation title. Now, if you’ve enjoyed playing SEGA Superstars and then discovered to your dismay that you’ve worked up a bit of a sweat doing so, it’s time to be brave and take things to the next stage. EyeToy Kinetic is not a game at all, it’s a digitised personal trainer that will help you to improve your fitness, without the inconvenience of having to leave your front room.
Developed in association with the clever sports science people at Nike Motionworks, Kinetic invites you to embark on a twelve week training course with your new virtual trainers, Matt and Anna. The game widens the scope of the EyeToy like never before, quite literally in fact: the disc comes with a special attachment to give your EyeToy a wide angle lens and consequently give you more room to move around in.
Embracing the entire world of fitness training, not only will EyeToy: Kinetic test your cardio-vascular powers with aerobic workouts, it also aims to improve your strength, balance and co-ordination with a selection of martial arts techniques. These are based mostly on the flashy and exciting styles of Tae-kwondo and Kick Boxing, and if this all sounds a bit too aggressive then you can wind down with Yogic meditation exercises. Kinetic affords regular people to perfect chance to have a go at new exercises without the fear of embarrassment.
