Summary

SCEE is back again with the fresh bout of party game madness that is EyeToy Play 2. As players go centre-screen for some comic japes and unwittingly serious keep-fit work-outs, the EyeToy camera once again projects you into the game, allowing physical interaction with the characters and environments already there. 12 new games allow players to take part in a diverse range of events. Whether performing high and mighty kicks in Kung2, trying their hand at home improvement in DIY, or making burgers and fries in MrChef, ordinary folks become the star of the game, using almost any part of the body to control the action.

We'd have to wonder about the well-being of anyone who played EyeToy Play 2 alone - not even with an audience of one. In company, EyeToy Play 2 offers oodles of amusement, with a selection of party games that are as much fun to watch as to play. A new multi-player tournament option allows for up to four people to face off against one another taking quick-fire turns in the competition.

Motion- Cam motion detection allows players to fine tune their technique in games such as HomeRun and TableTennis, which take into account where you aim and how hard you hit the ball. In Boxing, the harder you punch, the better you score in the game. Many of the games also feature Sonic-Cam audio recognition, enabling players to add another dimension to the action by shouting at the screen.

MiniVision takes an image of the player and the room they are in and projects the reduced image deeper into the game. This new feature makes games such as GoalAttack and HomeRun possible, allowing players to not only control the game with their body but to actually move around within a 3D game environment. New effects in the Playroom area include Cutout-Cam, which allows players to be separated from the surrounding background and superimposed into a new environment, and Colour-Cam, enabling players to control the action using brightly coloured objects. Suffice to say, things have progressed, EyeToy-wise, in the past year.

You can also turn your camera into a surveillance system that will record anyone that passes by. Budding detectives can set up their 'SpyToy' to capture photos or record video of intruders, or they can record their own stealth message that will pop up on the television screen should anyone cross the threshold.

Whether you're keeping an eye on what goes on in your absence, or simply enjoying more than 80 bonus games, EyeToy Play 2 offers a great deal for the price you pay.
