Summary
For too many years the world suffered from overpopulation and ecological destruction, until leading scientists created a new Matrix style paradise by creating a super computer to solve all of mankind's problems. It was called Cyberspace, and gave everyone the opportunity to live a happy, uncomplicated life, just in a virtual world.
But a good life brought the progress of mankind to a halt. They became dependent on the system. New discoveries were unnecessary, because the people's desires could be given to them with the press of a button. Then the computer started analyzing things happening to mankind, and arrived at the unfavorable conclusion that the birth-rate was going down to catastrophic levels and IQ was constantly decreasing. Effectively mankind was committing suicide in its own luxury. But then CyberBrain decided on a great experiment...
Players assume the role of a young hacker who manages to gain access to a secure area of the virtual world and copies some highly valuable and shocking information onto disk. Before long, the police are banging on your door, demanding to 'speak' with you, and so your fugitive adventure begins.
Wandering a plethora of vast 3D locales, you'll constantly find yourself at the center of an epic struggle for survival as you strive to stay alive in this hostile and highly controlled world. Thankfully, you'll be armed with a wide variety of weapons and ammo that include pistols, rifles, grenade launchers and rocket launchers, that will make themselves useful time and time again throughout the course of the game.
Making use of a realistic physics model, some great visual effects and an intriguing plot, Paradise Cracked is well worth a look.
