Summary

The Olympics make an appearance but once every four years, and the year 2000 is one of those years. Now, track and field events have had such popularity that there have been a number of video game conversions dating as far back as video games go. To tie in with the Sydney 2000 Olympics, the official game of the summer Olympics, Sydney 2000 makes its arrival on PC.

There are twelve gruelling events to strive over; including the quick paced 100m sprint and the notoriously hard weight lifting contest. While there are only a few controls to set your world record with, each and every event has its own unique method of control. Some events involve simple button-bashing power, while others require precise timing to achieve the best scores. All of these events can be practised in Sydney 2000’s in-game gym. Once you feel confident enough to take on the events of the stadium, you can choose to participate in a quick arcade mode or a full on Olympic style challenge.

Sydney 2000 is well-timed video game tie-in, and while it doesn’t have the pure playability of Konami’s International Track and Field, it is a good game nonetheless.
