Summary
It's finally time for gamers to step beyond the realms of Final Fantasy XIV and into Heavensward, the massive expansion that pushes the boundaries established in Square Enix's epic MMO and goes beyond the story into virgin territory.
One of the big pulls for fans will be several new, sprawling zones to explore. Finally Dravania, a landmass dominated by a towering crystal mountain, is open for exploration. Not only will players meet that strange geology, they'll also encounter a massive forest populated by trees with multiple trunks, Foundation, The Pillars, Coerthas Western Highlands and floating places such as the Churning Mists and the Sea of Clouds. And, with aerial lands to explore, new flying mounts such as dragons, flying chocobos and airships will get you there.
New jobs are up for grabs, too. There's the Dark Knight, a new class of tank that wields a massive greatsword, the Astrologian, a new medic class powered by the stars, and the DPS class's Machinist.
Players can also meet a new race and two new beast tribes. There are the Au Ra, a new, dragon-like, horned race and there are the Vanu Vanu and the Gnath (as well as their primal guardians, the Vanu primal – Bismarck, and the saviour of the Gnath – Ravana).
For those who are attached to their existing character, there's also a wealth of new gear and loot to be had.
In other words, there's plenty to keep fans going for a long, long time.
