Summary

If you’re an arcade shoot’em up fan, you’ll most definitely have heard of Japanese bullet hell masters Cave, whose games have hardly ever seen the light of day on Western shores. Luckily, there’s been amazing cult demand for these titles to be introduced to gamers on our side of the world, and Deathsmiles is one of those games that will not disappoint.

You get to blast your way through flamboyantly pink and gumball-coloured stages as a killer flying maid with a chip on her shoulder. You’ll come across trolls and shooting skulls along your travels… as well as many, many bullets, with gaps barely small enough to squeeze through. A two-player co-op mode - local or via Xbox Live - allows a friend to take some of that burden, but don’t expect that to be a lot if they’re not as flash as yourself.

This Deluxe Edition comes with three different gameplay modes for your pleasure - the original arcade edition, a straightforward arcade conversion for the Xbox 360 and ‘Version 1.1’ which is a new conversion designed specifically for Microsoft’s home console. A desktop accessory pack and Deathsmiles soundtrack is also included, and are exclusive to the European release. Finally, this PAL release contains the Mega Black Label pack, which adds a new character, an extra stage and a range of special features.
