Summary

It's hard to think of a unique angle to pitch puzzle games at these days. There's either the block-busting kind, the match-up kind, the numbers-kind or the sliding-kind. Rooms: The Main Building doesn't stray too far off the beaten track by going for the latter, but will intrigue you with its interesting premise.

Levels are broken down into 'rooms', and your aim is to help navigate the protagonist to the exit door. You do this by sliding sections of the room around – although your character can walk from tile to tile, if there is a gap you must move the floor piece your character is standing on to provide an additional route.

The game is set in a creepy and mysterious house called Rooms Mansion – which just happens to be in a parallel world. Always seems to happen. As a result, you'll find objects that work in wacky ways – telephones will teleport you from one side of a room to another, while explosives can be used to blow your way through weak walls. Some rooms will have environmental hazards that you will need to overcome before your character can tackle the level.

As you would expect, each room provides a challenge more difficult than the last, and you'll be taxed to the very core trying to work your way around. Ultimately, your objective is to seek four golden puzzle pieces that will help transport you home. And if you manage to arrange the floor tiles in each room in such a manner so that it creates a jigsaw puzzle-esque image, you get additional bonuses.
