Summary

If you can, imagine having a Kung Fu fight using string puppets, except that you do not have to worry about getting the strings tangled up. That is the concept behind Zoo Digital's Rag Doll Kung Fu for the PC.

Rag Doll Kung Fu is the brainchild of games industry veteran artist Mark Healey. The game originally started life as a low budget Kung Fu movie. Gamers control the characters on screen, performing outlandish attacks and combos using nothing but the mouse. There are no pre-scripted animations in RDKF - it is all up to the player. For example, to make a character walk, all you have to do is pick up one foot, then place it in front of the other. It may sound slightly confusing, but it doesn't take long before you're jumping around like Bruce Lee in Enter the Dragon.

With 16 levels of Story Mode, there should be something to keep even the most jaded gamer amused. There's even a complete old-style Kung Fu film that begs to be watched. There are loads of unlockables to enjoy, including a music-mixer that allows players to remix the game music. RDKF features several single-player mini games for gamers to get their teeth into: Ninja Onslaught - beat as many ninjas as possible in a certain time; Chu Chu Wing Pooh - use your aerial combat skills to fight and knock the egg up the mountain; Rag Doll Soccer - play soccer Rag Doll style; and Rag Doll Athletics - try to beat the world record in Rag Doll Long Jump, High Jump, Distance Kicking, Distance Throwing and Sprinting.

If you have several USB compatible mice, RDKF lets you play multiplayer games with your friends, all on one computer. There are two multiplayer modes to enjoy: Athletics - compete against friends in five different events; and Movie Maker - make your own story and record the action. It is also possible to play online with up to eight people. Again, there are two online modes to participate in: Death Match - create your own fighting style and go to war; and Rag Doll Soccer - play on your own or in teams for the highest score.
