Summary
Maelstrom is set against the violent ecological meltdown of a future planet Earth. It is all-out war as gamers fight for control of the entire planet against an army of high-tech super soldiers, vicious aliens and a motley crew of human survivors.
In this ravaged world, Earth's dwindling resources - especially the lack of water - have divided what remains of mankind into two distinct groups: the urban freedom-fighting Remnants and the technologically advanced Ascension. Now they must wage war against a new threat, the invasion of a savage alien race, known as the Hai-Genti, and each other in a desperate struggle for survival. The Hai-Genti has been evolving and advancing, very much parallel to humans on Earth. Their leaders have decided that the time is right and have descended on Earth, ready to take the troubled planet as their own - and they will let nothing stand in their way.
It is up to you to save the world. Through Maelstrom's missions, gamers must take command from different viewpoints and employ faction-specific tactics and weaponry. This can range from transforming the land to using the forces of nature to achieve your objectives. Played in Real Time, Maelstrom's incredible level of detail will allow gamers to get extremely close and destroy their enemies from a third-person perspective.
Maelstrom for the PC can also accommodate up to six players in a multiplayer option that is both great fun and action-packed.
