Summary

Have you ever wanted to hunt giant monsters and mythical beasts? Maybe not, but anyhow, here’s your chance to do so with Monster Hunter: Freedom.

In Monster Hunter: Freedom gamers are given numerous quests which all ultimately involve battling and (hopefully) slaying monstrous creatures. The game starts with the option of customising your very own monster hunter – hair, face, voice and other essential attributes needed to slay large beasts. You are then taken to a village hub where you can accept different challenges, ranging from retrieving an egg from the nest of a fire-breathing dragon to hunting down extremely large creatures. You can forage slain monsters for food and collect bones for weapons/armour. When challenges have been completed successfully, players will receive certain awards that will upgrade weaponry and equipment that will make monster hunting even more effective.

Up to four people can team up in co-operative multiplayer missions via the PSP system's ad hoc mode. Gamers can also trade certain items as well as guild cards, which track points that are awarded when participating in multiplayer missions. There is a new treasure hunters co-op game for two players, where you must collect various treasures in a specific time to achieve high scores that will earn different items. There are also mini games to play that include harvesting plants, collecting items and completing many small tasks that will allow you to obtain items that will be of use in the main game.
