Summary

Last year JoWood brought us Transport Giant, a game that teaches its players both the basics and complexities of a city transport infrastructure. Since then they’ve also released an add-on pack, subtitled Down Under, which challenged the player to do the same thing, only in Australia. Now the two are being bundled together for the convenience of newcomers to this popular title. The resulting confection is Transport Giant Gold.

A game that begins in the 1850s, the original Transport Giant charges players with the mighty task of managing a town or city's transport system. In the beginning, your options are limited but useful, and with time, players can use new and revolutionary transport systems as and when they become available. Ultimately your goal is to supply your city with whatever it needs and meet the demands of its inhabitants.

Just a few of Transport Giant's many titbits include bridges, tunnels, signalling systems, over 130 vehicles, extendable stations, 60 different products and industries, 500 buildings, missions, a developing storyline, global maps and special events. There's a lot to consider, but we were pleased to discover the game was remarkably easy to pick up, thanks to adjustable difficulty settings.

The add-on you to one of Earth's most fascinating and mysterious - but also most dangerous - continents: to Australia!

Who could not be fascinated by the appeal of the smallest continent and largest island of our planet? Australia's flora and fauna alone are a world apart. And even its transport industry has its own rules and facets which promise an element of surprise.

The unique and exciting scenery is the setting for new challenges with 12 thrilling and difficult missions. You've got countless opportunities to prove you're the real Transport Giant: provide small mining villages with all their essential infrastructures; help establish the Royal Flying Doctors service and make the huge distances involved rapidly shrink with the latest in transport technology.

Your creativity will be challenged in the new maps provided and the new free game mode. Build supply stations in the middle of nowhere, connect opal mines with trade outposts or make people and companies dependent on your fast and reliable air transport – it's your choice.

Both games in one box make the title a no-brainer for people looking for an introduction to this popular management and building sim.
