Summary

When the massive Sim City series debuted, it touched on a great number of management sim attributes, most of which had the potential for a game of their own. Building structures, general management and resource management are just a few of them, and now JoWood has brought us Transport Tycoon, a game that teaches its players the basics and complexities of a city transport infrastructure.

A game that begins in the 1850s, Transport Tycoon charges players with the mighty task of managing a town or city's transport system. In the beginning your options are limited but useful, and with time, players can use new and revolutionary transport systems as and when they become available. Ultimately your goal is to supply your city with whatever it needs and meet the demands of its inhabitants.

Just a few of Transport Tycoon's many titbits include bridges, tunnels, signalling systems, over 130 vehicles, extendable stations, 60 different products and industries, 500 buildings, missions, a developing storyline, global maps and special events. There's a lot to consider, but we were pleased to discover the game was remarkably easy to pick up, thanks to adjustable difficulty settings.

All in all, Transport Tycoon is everything we expected it to be and more. It looks great, it plays even better, and though it's really one for the virtual tycoon, it's accessible to anyone.
