Summary

As the THQ library of Nickelodeon spin-offs continues to grow, more and more kids are getting the chance to play as some of their favourite cartoon characters. On this occasion, we take a look at Jimmy Neutron. He made his first appearance in video game form in 2002 with the release of Boy Genius, and he’s coming to GameCube a second time in a brand new adventure called Jet Fusion.

In an attempt to take over the world, the aptly named Dr Calamitus has kidnapped the one person with the ability to stop him, Jet Fusion. However, he never thought that a boy genius would be brought into the picture. Enter Jimmy Neutron, the quiff-equipped boy called in by the Big Top Secret Organisation to rescue Jet Fusion.

Yet another 3D adventure for GameCube, Jet Fusion pits players in amongst a selection of fantasy environments, in which they must defeat myriad henchmen, solve puzzles, and make good use of a vast array of weapons. You can interact with non-playable characters from the TV series, and there’s the occasional cut-scene to keep the story progressing and the player motivated.

Visually, Jet Fusion isn’t outstanding, but it’s a solid game, featuring convincing 3D cartoon locales, and characters that look just like they do on the telly. Which they are! Jet Fusion is quite simply a fun adventure game that fans of this particular Nickelodeon franchise will relish.
