We're sure you all remember the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - a group of super...erm, turtles, blessed with the abilities of a Ninja? Yup, it's unarguably one of the most original comic book concepts to emerge from the 1980's that went on to make waves on the telly, in film and in video games. Some years later, it's back for PC in yet another virtual offering from Konami.

Firstly, and staying faithful to the Turtles franchise, this latest offering from Konami sees the entire gang returning to put an end to the evil doings of arch-enemy Shredder and his Foot Clan. Guided by uber-wise ninja rat Splinter, and with the aid of April O'Neil, players assume control of Leonardo, Donatella, Michealangelo or Raphael in a combat-based adventure with a visual style not dissimilar to Capcom's Viewtiful Joe. The beat-em-up adventure's backdrops and characters are distinctly cartoon-like and cel-shaded, and combat-based gameplay even comes with the obligatory 'Bash, Thwack and Kapow' pop-ups to signify successful hits.

Story Mode is where most of the action is, and interestingly accommodates up to two players in a co-operative adventure. There are some 35 levels in all, spread across six massive gaming locations, in which players will have to defeat a barrage of enemies. It's hard work and a good test of reflexes, and disposing of your foes will not only grant you access to the game's later stages, it'll help you learn a few much-needed special abilities as well.

Additionally, there's a versus mode of sorts that let's players engage with other AI-controlled characters as well as friends. This latest offering of the comic book foursome is a great deal of fun, so it's time to shell out, tee-hee!
