Summary

Seeing as it's all the rage for sports personalities of all denominations to put their name on the front of a video game box these days, it comes as no surprise to learn that French-Canadian Formula One veteran Jacques Villeneuve now has a game endorsement of his own. Contrary to that of most game/star relationships, however, the development of Speed Challenge has been the recipient of a considerable amount of input from Villeneuve himself.

The game has been designed to be one of the most true-to-life and intense racing experiences around. Assisting towards this goal, Jacques has worked closely with the Ubi Soft development team for the past two years, giving his professional opinion with regard to the game's physics and overall feel. The end result is a new racing challenge that places an emphasis on driver performance.

A total of six super-powered cars are on offer, each one complimented by a range of four different skins. Where this game differs from others, however, is the fact that each driver drives the same car, so there are no advantages to be had other than your own skills and abilities.

11 realistic courses feature throughout the game, all based on real routes through some of the world's greatest cities. Because of this it becomes possible to drive at breakneck speeds down roads like the Champs-Elysees, as well as select areas from the likes of London, Paris, NYC, Osaka, and Montreal.

Striking a careful balance between simulator and simple arcade racing game, Speed Challenge offers the best of both worlds.
