Summary

Each of the phenomenally successful Star Trek games for PC has been a great game in its own right, and finally the best of them have been compiled to create the ultimate PC bundle. Star Trek Commander’s Edition is coming your way. You know you want it. Comprising of Starfleet Command Gold, Starfleet Command 2 Gold and the recent Star Trek New Worlds, this really is as good as it gets.

Star Trek: New Worlds is a 3D real-time strategy game where you control the action. You can choose to play as the Federation, the Romulans or the Klingon Empire. In New Worlds, the Romulans have violated the neutral zone treaty and have begun testing a new weapon. This course of action has greatly angered the Klingons and the Federation who are determined to put a stop to this declaration of war. Unfortunately, the experiment goes terribly wrong and the blast disrupts space, creating a gravity well. From this spatial anomaly, new planets are dragged into our space-time continuum. These new planets are rich in resources and are extremely valuable to all three sides. The Klingons have been suffering economic war under the Federation for many years now, and conquering these new worlds would help them on the road to victory.

The Starfleet Command series are real-time space tactical simulations that are very comprehensive. If you have ever watched the television series or any of the Star Trek films and longed for the opportunity to bark orders at your own crew, these games will be perfect for you. Experience the danger of the final frontier from the comfort of your own home.

Both games are essentially mission-based starship simulators. You need to master the controls of your ship and learn how to give orders. There are times when you will be in command of a fleet, so decisive delegation of responsibility is necessary. There are several tutorial missions that gradually ease you into the game and they give you a fair understanding of the play mechanics.

So there you have it, the ultimate Trekkie experience. What more do you want?
