Summary

Men like football. Men who are managed and men who manage will surely like football management. Not many get to do the real thing, so they turn to games like this one. So what makes this new entrant to the genre worthwhile? How comprehensive and accomplished these games are is entirely dependent upon the producers. In the case of Sky Sports Football Manager, there is nothing more polished than this giant package of stats of the greatest sport known to man.

The game, developed in conjunction with broadcasting giant Sky Sports, allows players to manage genuine teams from many areas of the sport, including the Premiership and Nationwide leagues. Any of the teams from these divisions can be selected, and virtual managers can loan, buy and sell players, specify formations and tactics, and manage the club’s finances.

By far the most intriguing aspect of this PC game is the online capability. If you’re fed up of competing with predictable computer-controlled teams, you can hook up to the Net and play against real players. This level of competition offers an infinite number of scenarios and the gameplay is never predictable. Plus, if you’re not too experienced in these types of games, you can chat to other managers to pick up and exchange playing strategies.

With an astounding 114 UK teams, a complete player listing with relevant statistics, and a bit of strategy-management gaming thrown in for good measure, Sky Sports Football Manager is simply super.
