Console basketball fans, you have never had it so good as with NBA Street from Electronic Arts on the PlayStation 2. If you ever catch the raw drama and excitement of the professional leagues, you will no doubt want to be a part of the action. All of you budding Kobe Bryant’s can now take to the courts with NBA Street. EA’s commitment to sport and Midway’s arcade style playability have finally come together in one fantastic basketball title.

NBA Street is a three on three street match where the winners are the first to score 21 points. Playing by street rules you must win the match by two points. Three pointers count as two pointers and normal baskets count for one. The rule book has been torn up, wrapped in bacon slices, thrown to the dogs. Making it easier than ever to have some fun.

Once you get the hang of the control method, NBA Street’s is light years ahead of other basketball games. Admittedly, this is no accurate simulation, but the way you can control your characters and the game is amazing. You have the standard pass and shoot buttons and also trick, shot-block and turbo buttons. Different combinations of buttons execute spectacular rim-rocking dunks.

The gamebreaker meter is gradually filled by successfully pulling off impressive dunks, alley-oops and other note-worthy team moves. If you manage to be a gamebreaker, you won’t miss the shot and if you dunk the ball you’ll smash the backboard. Just watch the re-plays.

With excellent gameplay, sound and graphics, NBA Street is the PlayStation 2 game to own.
