The tricky Brickster has escaped from the Lego prison once again, and only Pepper the skateboarding delivery boy can catch him and return him to his rightful place: behind bars. Brickster has also stolen the Constructopedia, the Lego building bible. He now has the power to take apart the island brick by brick. Without the Constructopedia, the Lego residents are unable to build anything. Time is of the essence.

The gameplay in Lego Island 2 is easy to learn and follows a straightforward formula. You need to explore the land and find the relevant item to solve your current puzzle. A good example being when you need to cross the bridges but are unable due to the bridge being damaged. If you find a jackhammer you can take this to the bridge to repair it. You are then given the next clue and your game continues. Talking to the residents can often reveal helpful clues.

Naturally, the graphics of the Advance version are superior to the 8-bit Game Boy Color version. But the best improvement has to be the inclusion of a map function. The game world is a big place and it is easy to get lost in. The map lets you see exactly where you are and where you need to go next. Very useful.

Lego Island is much more than an adventure game. To add variety, there are many sub-games scattered around the Island. Explore the mummy’s tomb, pilot a space shuttle, and even joust with a knight. Players need to earn a good enough score at these mini-games to continue after Brickster.
