Summary

Just them good old boys, Bo and Luke Duke. Just in case you never caught the Dukes Of Hazzard on TV, let us explain. The show starred two tree-hugging hillbillies and their automobile the General Lee. This car could reach speeds of 120mph and always seemed to be jumping (in slo-mo of course) off conveniently placed ramps, situated right next to the river, before high-tailing it into the distance. Bo and Luke always seemed to be on the wrong side of the law. To paraphrase the theme tune’s lyrics, they were like modern-day Robin Hoods.

The Dukes are one of many 80’s relics ripe for videogame plunderance, as witnessed by previous appearances on PC and PlayStation. It would be impolite to ignore the Game Boy Color, so here is the portable version. The Game Boy version is a top down racing game with mission based objectives. For example, the first level eases you into the gameplay by having you complete a couple of laps around a racecourse. This allows you to become familiar with the handling of the General Lee. Then things start to get interesting, as your Uncle Jesse is mugged and you need to find the robbers and sort things out. First you have to find their truck and once you have done that, pursue them in a high-speed chase. You have to race against the clock and avoid the police at the same time. No one said it was going to be easy.

The Dukes of Hazzard is a simple but fun game. It takes a few attempts to learn the levels and figure out where you’re meant to be going. Once you get the hang of it’s not a bad little racer.
