Summary

Today, there are a huge number of wrestling games available; some are exceptional, others are not so great, and can often let the genre down. It seems that the games that stand out mostly originate from one single developer - THQ. Although the infamous Smackdown series never made it to Nintendo’s 64-bit console, a substitute has been provided by THQ, and that is WWF No Mercy. Based on previous productions, No Mercy looks set to stand alongside the best of them.

Specific to the Nintendo 64 console, WWF No Mercy incorporates a four-player simultaneous option of play, making for some truly amazing multiplayer enjoyment. Multiplayer aside, there are many other options that give the single player plenty to do. There are whopping 65 WWF characters present in all, including the awesome The Rock (refers to himself in the third person, by the way). All characters have their own unique movement, design, and trademark moves and combos. Team combos have also been incorporated here, including the famous Dudley 3D Deathdrop. A survival mode of play allows the single player to take on the entire federation.

With plenty of game modes, some intense multiplayer action, and an all-new ladder match, No Mercy proves to be the ultimate Smackdown substitute for sour-faced Nintendo 64 owners deprived of the real thing.
