Summary

Command and Conquer: Renegade is the one you have been waiting for. Have you ever played Westwood’s hit games and wished to be down there in the thick of the action, running the missions of the infantry, or avoiding the enemy fire from the frontline? Now's your chance. Renegade is a 3D action game that is both fast paced and exhilarating.

Renegade is a first-person shooter set in the Command and Conquer universe. Players assume the role of Havoc, a character from the original game, a Global Defence Initiative commander.

The best feature of the original strategy games have been brought forward and incorporated into the gameplay. There are so many different styles of play that this game will almost suit everyone. You can adapt your tactics to the given situations or just use one style of play: guns blazing or stealth, it’s up to you. Varying your viewpoint can be as valuable as using a mixture of tactics.

As with most first-person shooters, Renegade really comes into its own in the multi-player mode. Playing as either the Brotherhood of Nod or the Global Defence Initiative gamers can use a variety of team-based tactics to tear apart the enemy. You can never truly predict what human opponents will do, and in this mode you’ll have to rely on your skills, not just your memory.

A new feature for Renegade is the ability to make use of over twelve vehicles, including rocket bikes, Orca fighters and flame tanks. Toasting enemies with the flame thrower is satisfying as well as useful.

Renegade is a brilliant cross-genre experiment. It works so well and makes good use of the characters and locations that are so familiar.
