The amount of speech in the game is impressive. The control method is intuitive and easy to learn. Although Mario Tennis is easy to get into, it is difficult to master. You can charge up your shots at the expense of your movement. When you unleash one of these powerhouse shots you are treated to some impressive visual effects, especially on the replays.
There are several game modes for you to choose from, including tournaments and exhibition play. There is even a special Bowser stage that tilts back and forwards while you play and features power-ups. Hitting someone with a turtle shell as they are about to return your smash is very amusing.
