Summary

As an RPG, you would expect a sequel to incorporate a certain amount of new and improved features, but Vandal Hearts 2 remains to be more of the same. Not that this is a bad thing, since the original proved to be quite a popular title, even if it was only recognised amongst fans of the genre. Vandal Hearts 2, as with any RPG, consists of a very strong, but confusing plot line that always has you begging the question, “but what happens next,” and that is what keeps the player playing.

In terms of initial visual prowess, VH2 remains tightly close to its original. This turn based style still take place on a revolving isometric plain that you must move around in on grid like landscapes. You could relate VH2 to some of today's role playing board games; the strategy is that similar. The idea of the battle is simple; move towards your enemy and attack.

More strategic elements are implemented when you have the ability to play around with magic. Every magic attack or spell has it’s own field of vision in which it can attack. Some spells have a large field, but the attack itself will be very isolated. Every possibility has its strengths and weaknesses.

If you have heard of the original Vandal Hearts, then this follow-up will be of interest to you. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, then you probably never will.
