Unfortunately, while the character animations work well and the overall design of
Haze is strong, the game stumbles on a couple of points graphically. The pop-up is horrendous in places, which is disappointing for a game that has been in development for this long (it was announced in May 2005). Also, while the Mantel troopers look slick, the rebels look like they've had a fair bit less time spent on them.
While the environments are certainly rich in their design - and in places look great - the textures are often flat and a bit dull. It's particularly unfortunate that one such place is the Mantel Land Carrier, the first place that you visit.
The lack of loading screens in-game is a good touch. The closest you get is a fade out in a manner similar to older TV shows, although it didn't escape my notice several sections were longer than they need to be while the next level loaded up.
Haze has a lot going on on the old multi-player front. Basically, you've got all the abilities of the Mantel troopers to pit against all the sneaky tactics of the Promised Hand across a wide variety of maps.
As a beginner, the Mantel side is the obvious choice. Being faster, stronger, able to see your enemies in a strange glowy light and having weird powers of pre-cognition all makes for an appealing package when you're heading online to face abusive 16 year-olds in Arizona.
As you become more deft in your role as a Promised Hand rebel, however, being able to take more tactical routes and do things like set traps and steal your enemies' weapons starts appealing to your inner bastard. For more on the nuts and bolts of

Conclusion
Haze offers a good package and I'd recommend it to any FPS fan with a PS3 sat at home.
The game-play is varied and rich and the story's engaging and well acted. Alas,
Haze is let down by a few niggly but glaring flaws in the graphics and a handful of flaws elsewhere that stop it from being great. Some of the gameplay features, such as a couple of the ways to force Mantel troopers to OD, feel superfluous and the vehicle handling could do with some work. If you like shooting stuff, however, get it and put up with the niggles. It has a lot to offer.[/b]
