So what we have with Fable is a solid and enjoyable RPG with a substantial injection of gimmicky distractions. It’s not particularly revolutionary, nor is it as amazing as we had been led to believe. However, it is still very good. With so few direct competitors on Xbox, Fable does shine brightly. And if you take the hype with a pinch of salt and approach Fable with muted expectations, you’ll probably find it to be a rather enjoyable title. And if it is your cup of tea, there is definitely potential for replay. But even then, we’re looking at about 30 hours of play: a far cry from the 4 solid days of sleepless gaming some might have hoped for.
SPOnG Rating: B+
Great looking, plenty to do, lots of unique touches; but still marred by the inevitable climb-down from Molyneux’s initial grandiose vision.
