You know how you waste your life playing online shooters, the highlight of your day getting to pwn a few n00bz here and there? There’s financial gain to be had should you apply your greatest talent to the world outside of your bedroom.
Take Jonathan Wendel for instance, or Fatal1ty as he likes to be known amongst his band of 3||T h4xZ0r fragmates. He netted $150,000, enough for a whole Ferrari, at the World Cyber Athlete championships held across nine nations this year.
"It took a lot of practice coming into this tournament, training about eight hours a day for the last two to three weeks", Wendel told AP Television News after the event. "To win $150,000 playing a video game - that's the best!" Which clearly it isn’t.
Having a Ferrari would be better.
We assume Wendel doesn't have a girlfriend, simply to make ourselves feel better. He probably does though, what with all the gold he can now buy her.
