Microsoft’s X0 events are legendary in the European games industry. Scene of, amongst other things, near-drownings, 30-hour drinking sprees, 8,000 Euro drinks rounds for 10 and public nudity, perhaps the only way the event could be made more dangerous would be if it were held in, say, the European capital of vice, Amsterdam. Funny that, given the Dutch capital - famed for its middle-aged African hookers for stag parties to dare each other to hire - and well, drugs, is exactly the location Microsoft has booked.
SPOnG has known this for about a month now, though details as to what to expect by way of official announcements have been scarce. However, an emerging picture of the event is, erm, emerging. Having done some sniffing around (we were told while we there last week!) it looks certain that next week will see a major pre-X05 announcement made by Microsoft’s Redmond office. This is expected to detail either the price or specific launch dates.
We also learned that Xbox 360 production has yet to commence. “We're going to announce [when the 360 production lines start rolling] in the coming weeks. We believe it's a monumental moment,” Peter Moore told SPOnG last week. Read the full interview here.
