TGS Draws Big Guns – Iwata, Bach and More
The Tokyo Game Show has again drawn interest from some of the games industry’s big guns, with Nintendo president Satoru Iwata and Xbox chief Robbie Bach both confirming keynote addresses.

Bach and Iwata-san are slated to speak on September 16 - the business-only day of TGS - at 10AM and 11AM respectively. Though no details of the presentations have not been disclosed, speculation has arisen that Nintendo may use the event to showcase the Revolution and its controller, in spite of the Kyoto giant's refusal to exhibit at the event.

We’ll have a scrape around for more news on this and keep you updated.

Nintendo's been avoiding TGS lately; why else would Iwata attend TGS and perform a keynote speech.

This will be like what happened at the GDC; nobody really expected him to be there, but he was and he delivered some pretty valuable information regarding DS and Revolution.

Iwata WILL reveal important things at this year's TGS.

Ok, let me get this straight:

Iwata's making a speech, but Nintendo isn't showing? Miyamoto said they would only reveal the controller along with software to show it. Doesn't that kind of say iwata WON'T show the controller? Unless Iwata was to play a couple of games during his speech... which would be lame as well.

Just a thought. My money is on revealing the DS online service (Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, Tony Hawk etc aren't that far off at that moment). Maybe some specs for revolution, but i doubt he's gonna show the "revolution". If the revolution is really revolutionary, my bet is they'll show it the week before xbox360 launches... PS3's launch is a bit too far off.

I dunno, Iwata played a few games at GDC, when he was "just giving a speech" and it was the exact opposite of lame.

Iwata will most likely give announcements of new games. Perhaps a little on how DS is doing and plans for GBA Micro.

Well, the Micro will be out before the speech. He may show first day shipments/sales data on the Micro, and I think he will talk about the Revolution. He may go ahead and announce the specs at GDC. I think Nintendo will want people to get to use the controller... when they show it. I think that if they were to show off the controller, they'd grab random people from the audience to try it out, then.. after the conference, those random people will be killed by the people who didn't get to play with the controller.

If I were Nintendo, I'd show off the controller publicly, closer to November. Then, at GDC, show off playable Revolution titles. Of course, this would be to attract developers at a personal level. I think when people get their hands on the controller, they'll be like: "Well, why the Hell didn't anyone think of making controllers like that before?!"

I think the Revolution's controller will be something logical: like a rolling Z button (similar to the roll wheel on a mouse), multiple point force feedback, and sliding snap-back L & R buttons. (So, you can push them forward as well as in. Thus making for quick shifts, dashing attacks, etc.)

But temperature controls, gyroscopes, and whatnot are cute ideas. Although, impractical and expensive for third parties to implement.

You know, I think you're the first to say that sort of thing. And it does make massive sense. Wow...
