Another Day, Another Game Movie
One day, a movie based on videogame IP might actually be good. We know - it’s unlikely, but we can all hope; hope for better, happier days. Perhaps the freshly-announced Max Payne movie will be the answer…

Hepped up on Valkyr, executives at 20th Century Fox have signed the 3D Realms/Remedy title for a full cinematic release, expected at some point during next year.

Co-producer Scott Faye says, "I think this is a real actor's part because although the story will have action and intrigue, at its core it's a story about a man who loses everything in life that's dear to him. Unlike a novel, video games by nature leave gaps in the story, which allows film-makers an opportunity to flesh out the story and fill those holes in a meaningful way."

Of course, SPOnG is still eagerly awaiting the Crazy Taxi movie though we guess that considering a game/movie tie-in we don’t really care about will fill the void for now.

More somewhat flaccid news on the next slow news day.

I'm not sure I agree with you about there being no good movies based on game IP, I for thought that the Resident Evil films were superb and am eagerly awaiting the third.

Scott Fayes comments concerns me a bit when he goes on to say that film-makers can go on a flesh out the holes in the story. In other words just make it up as they've got idea of the story behind the game.
