Nintendo DS 'Powers Up'
America's Nintendo Power magazine has shed some more light on the on-line capabilities of the DS with the revelation that GameSpy will facilitate the console's online wireless multi-player offering. Already a major player in the world of PC-gaming networks, GameSpy promises a simple set-up and free connection worldwide, providing there's a wireless Internet hotspot within range.

The progression from a local wireless network to worldwide, according to Nintendo president Satoru Iwata's GDC address, will be easy, with similar technology employed. Developers are expected to receive their dev kits before E3 in May, and from then onwards, we can expect a welter of exciting news and previews before the worldwide arrival of true on-line gaming for the DS, expected late in the year.

Nice to see Nintendo moving online and I hope it all goes well. When I heard about the DS going online I thought it was all talk and I'm glad I'm wrong.

Looking forward to being able to sample game demos on DS, possibly getting them online just makes things sweeter.

Great stuff ! ! !
Who'd have thought when GC was launched that Nintendo's debut into onlinegaming would be on a seemingly bizarre Dual Screen handheld.

I can't wait for Animal Crossing, and I hope Bomberman, Advance Wars, Katamari Damaci on DS have some cool online modes as well.
Roll on e3 ! ! !
