New Images From GTA: San Andreas

The Rockstar uber-crime adventure pictured inside.

Rockstar knows full well that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will sell in enormous quantities. There’s almost no need for spurious marketing or contrived hype-mongering. The populist enthusiasm that will surely surround GTA: SA’s launch is completely unavoidable.

However, for impatient GTA fans unable to contain their feverish excitement, the stingy smattering of screenshots revealed thus far has failed to satisfy their voraciously violent appetites. So, for the benefit of criminally minded eager beavers everywhere, here’s a glimpse at the US packshot and another solitary screenshot, of some OG popping caps out his ride. Check it out y'all! Ahem.

Still not excited at all. The graphics look exactly the same as Vice City, just ever so slightly improved. It will sell incredibly well, no doubt about that. If Need For Speed can anything can. But I know I'll be avoding it.

^^^ even if the graphics are the same, that will not deter me from buying it, yes there is a case of repetitiveness, but the game is great fun.

And I'm sure most of the people buying this are the same ones complaining about Nintendo's 'Cookie cutter' sequels.

Will the hypocrisy ever end!?

You shant be alone GTA 3 was awful i mean come on the wrecked the great games by turning it 3d in my opinion and all the missions are the same!!! Kill him, Batter this random, Pick this up, There is no story line and most people buy it just to kill the people randomly. Its not fun, Get a real game such as RPG's All of you!! Also was it only me that things the graphics are painful at best?

I think that only hard core fans are exited with this game, i mean look at the screens, it looks like vice city just with very slightly improved graphics, i dont think i would even bother to rent this game till i hear theres somethin really special bout it.

Yes it is, and I believe that hundreds of thousands of other players would say the same. You mightn't have liked it, but fun it most definately is. The missions are somewhat repetative, but I fail to see how an RPG fan could whinge about a game being repetative. If I have to sit through another boring, seen-it-a-hundred-times attack sequence in Final Fantasy, I'll scream.

Anyway, the missions in GTA make for about a fifth of the enjoyment. It's the free roaming stunts and mini games that are the best laugh.

In you opinion. In mine, RPGs are the dullest of all things. Playing an RPG makes decorating seem like a weekend of a orgasmic bliss.

Of course, only games with great graphics are any good, aren't they?

So the only way you'll be interested is if the graphics look prettier?!?!

Gawd.. and there was me thinking people had moved on from only caring about how pretty something looks.

Vice City looked stunning and pushed the ps2 to its limits.. how are they supposed to improve it? Surely gameplay improvements are what we're looking for not just eye candy?

No its not just about its graphics, though they were far from stunning. GTA3 graphics were much better and less glitchy than Vice City. As Driv3r shown us, in a very limited way, graphics can still go a long way from what did in Vice City. They could improve the crash phsics, introduce rag doll effects for pedestrians and try to style their graphics less cartoony. But they haven't done any of that from what I've read. And looking at games like Killzone and GT4 (which is arguable bigger than both GTA's put together) saying GTA has 'reached the limit' graphically is no excuse.

But my worries are aimed more towards the gameplay. The mission will be no doubt as meger as the last two games and little improvement will be there, except perhaps the ability do drive buys with your gang. And as for the messing about part...well I've been messing about on GTA 3 and Vice for 3 years now...what more fun can I get from that? What else haven't I tried a thousand times. The only new aspect of the game is the chore of having to eat whilst your doing it to stay alive or having to go to hospital when your hurt. Which you could do in the first two in a basic form.

Oh and theres the gang mode...where you can do the exact same thing as you do on your own, but with some basic AI following you around as well...super.
