US Xbox Price Slash: Full Hardware and Software Details Inside

While Europe was in bed, Microsoft’s Xbox division in the USA announced a significant slash of the Xbox retail price-point, as well as reducing the price of some key software titles.

The standard hardware unit was cut from $179 to $149, equivalent to a mere £82 Sterling.

The following software was also reduced in price:

Xbox Music Mixer - $19.99
Project Gotham Racing 2 - $29.99
Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge - $29.99
Counter Strike - $29.99
Voodoo Vince - $19.99
Grabbed by the Ghoulies - $19.99

It is not currently known whether or not similar cuts for Europe are planned, though a UK price adjustment has been suspected as being close for some time. Prices in Asia are unchanged at time of going to press.
