Sammy Planning Managerial Changes at Sega
According to reports from Polygon Magazine this morning, a considerable shake-up of Sega’s highly profitable arcade business is planned by Sammy, Sega’s single largest shareholder.

Polygon writes that, “According to sources close to the company, Sammy plans to make several managerial changes within Sega this spring,” with a new focus on presumably cut-price arcade software being readied for “…markets in China, Russia and South America, among other regions.”

This fits well with Sammy president Hajime Satomi’s recent comments regarding Sammy’s Dreamcast-based AtomisWave arcade platform, when he said that “…it is low cost enough that even a single play at 10 yen a game can turn a profit. We can sell it in third-world countries as well.”

In other news, it was announced earlier this week that Sammy will partner with International Game Technology, with an aim on working with Sega’s arcade division on new horse-racing pachinko games.

Imaging Derby Owner’s Club, but with ball bearings, and you should get the idea…

Expect everything Sega, right here, as it breaks.
