Yes folks, there’s more! Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has made perhaps the most cryptic comments to date as to exactly what ‘The Thing’ is Nintendo is planning to show to the world, either at E3 in May or this week, Thursday to be precise, in Japan.
‘The Thing’ is a product that somehow exists in limbo between the worlds of hardware and software, and has had the world scratching its head in wonder since Iwata first mentioned it last year. His latest comments, taken from his current Japanese interview-a-thon, are among the most bizarre.
“We will be announcing the new product in America in May. We use the phrase 'A product of a different nature' to describe the product, but the idea that anyone who plays it will find it interesting remains unchanged,” he told the Mainichi Shimbun. “It should be a hint to the next generation of hardware. This will be the year that we put up a serious fight with this new product.”
Feel the power! “…hint to the next generation of hardware” and “…put up a serious fight with this new product.” That’s some big talking right there…
Anyhow, we are now more stumped than we were before. If you feel you can throw any light on this, do feel free to drop us a line.
