Blizzard founders walk!
It has emerged overnight that the founders of Blizzard Entertainment, the famed studio behind the massive Warcraft and Diablo franchises, have left the firm, taking several key staff members with them.

Indeed, Erich Schaefer, Max Schaefer and David Brevik, along with a fourth employee, Bill Roper, "…resigned from the company to pursue other opportunities”, according to a Blizzard statement released overnight.

The reasons why the move was made have not been revealed, though it’s certain that this will have a knock-on effect on Vivendi’s share-price, and it’s potential sale price, when the firm is eventually sold off. As you may know, Vivendi’s games division has been openly for sale for some months, with the PC-focused publisher the only profitable arm of the struggling French media conglomerate.

It’s also unknown what “other opportunities” means, though it seems that a new studio is almost certainly been set up as we write.

We’ll bring you the fallout from this high profile story as we get it.
