Iwata speaks
Speaking to Japanese daily Yomiuri Shimbun, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata made some interesting comments hinting at a possible price cut for the company’s GameCube console, following the machine not meeting its sales predictions.

“To date we expected to sell around 12 million Nintendo GameCube units and we have managed 10 million. Although this is strong, we may consider a price cut, if we thought it the correct thing to do.” He continued, “The Nintendo GameCube is in its infancy and it is an important time. Many more phases of the machine will occur and we intend to make them all very successful.”

Speaking on the roll-out of PlayStation 2 and Xbox into China, Iwata said, “Of course we would like to see Nintendo products go on sale in China. The country now has a strong economy but the levels of piracy of all forms of media must be reduced.”

GameCube price cut, eh? Isn’t this great? Soon, they’ll just be giving away consoles!
