Sega and Nintendo have jointly announced the first concrete plans for launching Phantasy Star Online Episode 1 & 2 in Japan.
Sega said that the game will be ready to ship in early August and should hit Japanese shelves on the eighth of the month. This move comes after Sega’s initial beta-test of the network and game system proved successful.
Sega also released pricing details for online play. 30 days of access to the PSO servers will cost 900 yen, a shade under £5, whereas 90 days will set the Japanese gamers back a mere 1500 yen, about £8.20.
Whether this low price point is reflected in the American and European announcements regarding the game remains to be seen.
