USA! USA! The NPD scores are here and, if you're a lover of the new Sony console and you're a hater of the new Xbox Console *and* this hatred fuels you and makes you feel whole, then boy are you going to be a happy camper.
That said, it wasn't NPD - the USA's stats compiler of record for video game industry sales - that released the figures. It refuses to release hardware figures. It was Sony and Microsoft in separate notes:
Sony went directly to the PS4 vs Xbox one with,"Demand for PlayStation 4 remains incredibly strong as it was number one in sales for next gen consoles in January, nearly doubling the nearest next gen competitor, and remains the cumulative leader."
Microsoft decided to go with a combined Xbox 360 and Xbox One sales attack with senior executive Yusuf Mehdi stating, "January NPD sales figures released today revealed Xbox [360 and Xbox One combined] sold the most games across all console platforms in January, with 2.27 million units sold, making up 47 percent of software market share."
Looks like a good, strong early lead for Sony. Now, where are the games?
