The PS4 controller is going firmly forward as management speak would have it. Its ditching all analog/analogue elements such as the iconic face buttons sensing how hard you've pressed them. Now, some people will find this move highly acceptable as progress (aka 'moving forward') from old fashioned analog to new fashioned digital means... well... let's see what Sony said:
Toshimasa Aoki, the manager at Sony Computer Entertainment’s product planning department told
Venturebeat, "With the DualShock 3, we were able to get analog data, which games didn’t really use.
“For DualShock 4, we deleted that, and now it’s all digital. The mechanism inside is a little different, and the data that games get is different.”
