Sony Losing $60 on Every PS4
"Sony is rumoured to be losing US$60 on each PlayStation 4 sale, money it aims to make back via selling peripherals, software and services," says an interview with Sony Computer Entertainment president and group CEO Andy House this week.

The information comes as Masayasu Ito a Sony Computer Entertainment Senior Vice President also pointed out that the company dropped the PS4 camera from initial bundles in order to hit the "magic price" of $399 in the USA (that's $200 less expensive than the PlayStation 3 at launch).

For his part, House stated to the BusinessSpectator, that, "Certainly for the earlier part of the lifecycle, the vast majority of the audience that we speak to tells us that their primary wish is for the full controller interface and there's not necessarily a huge emphasis being placed on camera interaction."

Making the PlayStation Eye cameras, that is essentially throwing away money, isn't it?

Well with 60% more power than the much weaker xbox one, people

Still in the denial stage. (Funny even the hardcore still hope their is a second gpu.)

Nice facts

•PS4 has 50% more GPU Cores for Shader performance than the Xbone 768 vs 1152
•PS4 has over 250% the Memory Speed of the Xbone because of GDDR5
•PS4 has over 300% the Memory Bandwith of the Xbone because of GDD5

So clear, but the fanboys are still in denial Microsoft decided too give you guys the budget option then proudly announced developer's can only use 90% of that power
all over the media.

Let me preface this by saying that I'm a fan of neither console, and even less a fan of the conglomerates producing them. That said, can I ask you if you're capable of explaining your claims regarding the differing types of RAM found in these two consoles?

Your 250% and 300% claims are exaggerated and false.

GDDR3 memory does not suffer nearly as much as GDDR5 in terms of latency. The Xbox's RAM might be slightly faster than the PS4's, but the PS4's memory will be significantly higher in bandwidth, and probably enough to compensate for the difference in speed.. all of this barring the case that the hardware differs greatly from what's on the market today.

The percentage difference between these two types of RAM are marginal. Your claims of hundreds% are sensational, fabricated of fanboyism, and completely exaggerated. The PS4 will probably perform better... a little better, so make that point in your arguments, because you lose all validity when you spew this drivel.

Both consoles are outdated before launch; they can not perform at the level of $550 to $600 computers. Not even close. Half the games aren't even running at 1080p... that's before launch. 1080p is the HD standard of 5 years ago. 1440 and 4k are going to be the next resolutions 5 years from now, and these consoles will still be doing 720, 900, and the occasional 1080.
