An interview in this week’s Famitsu Magazine has revealed some interesting details about Square’s Game Boy Advance projects, currently underway in Japan.
Director of Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story, Yasumi Matsuno, has confirmed that a GBA version of Tactics is in production and is about 30% complete at this point. Interestingly, the game will not be a port of the original but a ‘remix’ of the play mechanic and storyline, essentially a whole new game using the Tactics template. Described by the man himself as, “not just a transplant of the PlayStation version, but a new arrangement."
It was also mentioned that Final Fantasy XII will be completed at some point in 2003.
