Rockstar wants a flat, clean, well-marked, well-mown, lush playing field when it comes to the launch of GTA V so it's made a bit of a suggestion to at least one UK game retailer.GAME has written to some customers making it clear to them that it's not going to be sending the game out ahead of its 17th September release date. This could, of course, put them behind the 8-Ball in terms of competition with off-shore of just online only retailers but GAME needs a good relationship with publishers in order to survive during the death throes of bricks'n'mortar sales.
Videogamer caught a copy of the letter from GAME that reads in part:
"GTA V is released on 17th September and Rockstar, who publish it, have worked very hard to make it the biggest gaming launch ever.
"They have requested that no UK retailer despatch GTA V before the 16th September and GAME, along with all reputable retailers, will respect this request."
Nice piece of veiled threat there... very Grand Theft Auto. We expect a torture scene next.
