Microsoft has done a, well... not quite a U-turn, but a big old swerve on its plan to include free copies of FIFA 14 with every Xbox One when the system launches. Now the deal will only apply to Day One editions.

Microsoft social marketing manager for Xbox EMEA, Graeme Boyd, tweeted, "Had a few questions on this so wanted to clarify: FIFA 14 will only come free with Xbox One Day One Edition pre-orders, while stocks last."

He went on to add that, "If you have already pre-ordered a Day One Edition Xbox One, or pre-order one from now on while stocks last, you will receive FIFA 14 free."

That's a direct contradiction of a tweet from the official Xbox feed back on the 27th which, in response to a query, stated explicitly, "All pre-orders come with FIFA 14 in Europe, Ian. Doesn't matter if it's a Day One console or not."

Since they keep changing their minds about things, how about renaming the console to "Xbox-U" where the "U" is for u-turn? Or how about "X-U"? Or even "FU"? errm... scrap that last one.

They never said all Xbox Ones come with Fifa 14, just pre-orders. Most pre-orders are the Day One edition. The only change I see here is people pre-ordering the Call Of Duty bundle don't get Fifa.
